brain chemistry: altered. to unravel such a morally complex homoerotic slowburn against a backdrop of ecological collapse and political strife.....................absolutely delicious. the "non-human experiencing humanity for the first time and learning what it means to love" trope never not hits (and hits HARD) and it is even more stellar and gut-wrenching when that non-human is just a tiny little mushroom intent on honoring the owner of his human body ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ lu feng is extremely annoying and soooooo hot and cold in book one, however—though i grew to love him nonetheless. MY emotionally repressed serial murdering little meow meow
