Blind Side by Kandi Steiner is a captivating novel that immediately caught my attention. While the fake boyfriend/girlfriend trope is one that has been done numerous times, Steiner's version of it is truly exceptional. She skillfully manages to turn this familiar plot device into something masterful.
As the story unfolds, readers are taken on a journey filled with passion, intrigue, and a heartwarming tale that leaves a lasting impression.
Gianna and Clay are the central characters of this story, and their development is a testament to Steiner's writing prowess. Both characters are relatable, allowing readers to connect with them on a deeper level. Gianna's strong-willed nature and Clay's magnetic personality create a dynamic couple that captures the essence of a fake relationship turned genuine.
The book boasts a compelling plot that keeps readers hooked from beginning to end. Steiner skillfully weaves together a tale of love and deception, showcasing the complexities of relationships and the power of self-discovery. From the moment Gianna and Clay embark on their pretend romance, the story takes unexpected twists and turns that keep readers guessing and yearning for more.
One cannot overlook the scorching hot sex scenes that Steiner expertly incorporates into the narrative. These intimate moments between Gianna and Clay add depth to their connection, allowing readers to witness the sizzling chemistry that ignites between them. The author strikes a perfect balance between sensuality and emotional depth, making each encounter feel authentic and passionate.
While the author skillfully crafts vivid descriptions throughout the story, one aspect that could have been further developed is Gianna's appearance. While Steiner does provide some details, there were moments when her physical attributes were not fully interpreted, making it difficult to form a clear picture of her in my mind. However, this small flaw does not detract from the overall enjoyment of the book because Steiner's exceptional storytelling compensates for this minor setback
The book under review undoubtedly had its merits, captivating readers with its intriguing plot and well-developed characters. However, it is important to acknowledge that even the most commendable works are not without flaws. In the case of this book, there was one major flaw that I couldn't overlook: the break up between the main characters, Clay and Giana. Which I found to be cringy and lacking believability. The reasoning behind their breakup, using blackmail to take care of an adult parent, seemed far-fetched and unrealistic. The reasoning behind their separation felt cringy and not entirely believable. It was hard to accept the idea that blackmail was used as a means to take care of an adult parent. This plot point seemed forced and lacked the necessary depth to make it truly convincing.
Another issue I had with the book was the epilogue. Instead of focusing on the couple and their relationship, it shifted the spotlight towards introducing the next characters for the upcoming book. This was a major turn-off for me as a reader, as I was looking forward to a proper conclusion and closure for Clay and Giana. Traditionally, an epilogue serves as a conclusion for the main characters, offering readers a glimpse into their future together. However, in this novel, the epilogue primarily introduced new characters and set the stage for the next book in the series. This deviation from the norm was unexpected and, for many readers, off-putting. The desire to see the couple's journey resolved in a satisfying manner was overshadowed by the introduction of unrelated characters, leaving readers feeling unsatisfied and disconnected.
Furthermore, I found the conflict resolution to be too easy and simplistic. The problems that arose throughout the story were resolved without much depth or complexity, which left me feeling unsatisfied as a reader. Additionally, the reunion of Clay and Giana lacked the emotional impact I was hoping for. It offered a bittersweet moment, but it could have been portrayed with more depth and intensity.
Despite all of that, Blind Side is a feel-good novel that ticks all the right boxes. It combines a well-executed fake boyfriend/girlfriend trope with relatable characters, a compelling plot, and steamy romance.
The author's ability to transform the familiar fake boyfriend/girlfriend trope into something masterful is commendable.
Despite the slight ambiguity in Gianna's physical appearance, the overall experience of reading this book is undeniably satisfying. It is a feel-good story that leaves readers with a sense of joy and longing for more of Steiner's exceptional storytelling.
I highly recommend it to anyone in search of a captivating and satisfying read.
