I really wanted to love this book, but really couldn’t. I was more interested in the stories of the side characters than the awful, self-involved main ones. Eleanor, who is supposedly important to the story seems like an afterthought with her iPhone note reflections and lack of depth. The sexual violence for the sake of violence was also aggravating. In general, I don’t feel that the book really tells a story that anyone needs to know. I will say there is a small portion about 200 pages in that gets good, but otherwise a poorly paced and quite cliche story.
Also, the whole thing with the sugar glider was horrible and I don’t know why that had to be a part of this.
I will say that the writing itself is good, the author is talented at the art of writing, but I just hated the characters and premise too much to care about the story.
Also.tell me you got an MFA from NYU without telling me you got an MFA from NYU 🙄🙄🙄🙄
