This book was very reminiscent of a hallmark movie. Not a lot of depth but something that still entertains.
I found the story to be very predictable and the pacing was off for me. Nothing happened and then everything happened at once. It was a nice brain break after the last book I finished, I will give this book that credit.
One of my biggest pet peeves in books is when authors tell and don’t show. There was a LOT of that, especially with Cameron. You can tell me he’s so smart as many times as you want, but if his actions don’t reflect that, it’s not believable. The author tried to develop his character but it took too long and the switch happened so suddenly that it wasn’t compelling for me.
I also was anticipating Marcellus to play a much bigger part in this story. I think it would’ve been fascinating to experience this story entirely through his eyes.
