it was amazing

I first tried this book a few months ago, and didn't get past the first few pages. I really didn't 'get it' and thought it sounded pretty boring! But, I kept coming across it on GoodReads, and thought I needed to give it another try. I found an audio version at the library and stuck it in my car and the story started....

This time, it made sense! It helped that I had now read a review explaining that Death was the narrator!

The story takes place in Germany during WWII. "Death" is quite busy during this time in history. He first meets Liesel when her younger brother dies, and he tells us the story of The Book Thief.

And, it's an amazing story. I highly recommend it! And, the audio narrated by Allan Corduner is fantastic!

100% "I just started this book and am listening to an audio version while I travel. I'd picked this up once before and didn't 'get it'. Well, I don't know if it's because I now understand the story is told 'by' Death or the wonderful voice of the reader, but I am excited about this book!"
