really liked it

Good, solid Robert Harris book. This one was good, compared to the movie on the topic. I liked the additional detail. A fun way to immerse yourself in a small subsection of history. No surprise, but I spent a lot of time shaking my head whenever Neville Chamberlain clung to hope.

Clif Churchill was certainly right about Hitler, but I have to sympathize with Chamberlain who above all wanted to avoid a return to the horror and carnage that he had seen in WW1. Hitler, who was directly involved on the front in WW1, didn't consider what he would unleash to be avoided, eagerly looked forward to a further exercise of military power and if anything felt righteous about it.
