Rereading this book made me realize how skilled Rowling is as a writer. It's wonderfully written, has very few lulls if any, and moves along at a great pace. It's definitely written for the younger crowd but it's still surprisingly bold and dark at times. I was surprised I remembered as much as I did, since I hadn't read it since probably 3rd or 4th grade to begin with. Back then, I didn't have faces to put to the characters other than the few illustrations contained within the book and my own imagination--even so, after the films came out, I still found myself using my own mentally-imagined faces half of the time, probably because that's how I read it first. Interesting how the mind works that way.
