I found this story of Mississippi in the early 60's to be an entertaining page-turner. Stockett does a nice job of creating characters and situations that you really care about. Set in Jackson, the book follows the white Skeeter as she writes a book about the life of domestics in the employ of her friends. The true heart of the story is Abiliene, whose love for her charge, Mae Mobley absolutely tore my heart out.
