This book is the perfect mix of a Deadly Education + A Serpent and the Wings of Night + Eragon. Or Adult Harry Potter, but with dragons as friends and spicy. Or the TV show The Dragon Prince, but at a college and with adults not kids (and spice).
I could keep going forever because this book has everything you’re looking for. Intense plot and action, mystery, intrigue, romance, magic, dragons! AND: I have been waiting for a fantasy book that had a main character with a chronic illness/disability in which that disability felt representative of real life! Having a chronic illness/disability can be so difficult (I say this from person experience), and I love that in this book it was represented as just that: really hard, but you make your way. Violet doesn’t have any extra magical or mystical abilities or advantages because of her disability, she just MAKES HER WAY. And is strong because she knows more than anyone else what it means to struggle and what true strength is. And I loved that.
I have been waiting for this book for so long without ever even knowing it was coming, and I’m so glad I found it.
Now go read it! So we can chat about that ending!
