Books like this boggle my mind. It makes me admire - and envy- the ability to create characters so captivating and human that I’m compelled through the book just by the thrill of getting to know them, rather than needing a character in order to tell a good story. The story was wonderful too, which only makes the whole experience richer, but I could have been happy just by reading the lives of the people written, and that’s pretty incredible.

I felt the same way about this book... I just loved hanging out in their world and walking their streets and listening to their conversations... and the plot was a beautiful bonus. One of the only books that I think really earns the right to be that long
