Buddy read with the MacHalo's!

"The problem with Bambleby, I've always found, is that he manages to inspire a strong inclination towards dislike without the satisfaction of empirical evidence to buttress the sentiment."

What a curious little book. I've read my fair share of fae and fairy books over the years, and this is one of the most creative and utterly unique of them. And not the typical type of book that I enjoy. In fact, I had to add a new shelf for this book called cozy.

The MC is a surly, bookish, self-centered delight who regularly prioritizes scientific discoveries over...well...pretty much anything else. She (view spoiler)

The book itself wasn't action-packed. And it was far from the steamy romances I enjoy. In fact, if I had to describe this book to anyone, it would seem boring as hell. And yet I was enthralled from page 1.

After pondering it for a bit, I loved this book for three main reasons:
1. Cozy atmosphere with all things fae. And the fae were exceptionally well-written and adhere to the lore. I respect that.

His name sounds more like a store you would shop for baby clothes at than a sexy fae prince. The chapters Wendell took over, I laughed out loud more times than I can count. And the guy is an absolute priss. He is beyond lazy, and his viewpoint is hysterical. But he really does love Emily, and (view spoiler)

And Emily and Wendell somehow make sense together.

"It sounds odd to admit that I find the company of such a boisterous person restful, but perhaps it is always restful to be around someone who does not expect anything from you beyond what is in your nature."

I can't wait to read the second.
