I came back to read this after previously DNFing, and I'm glad I finished it, but it's definitely the weakest of his books in my opinion. I agree with the average rating, between a 3 and 3.5.

I understood what he was doing here, and there is that clever meta insight into the horror movie world that I appreciated. The concept of this is amazing, the execution is just a bit all over the place and not as strong as it could have been.

Still, an enjoyable enough book for if you just want some light entertainment but still dark and violent.
