it was amazing
bookshelves: angst, crime, happy-ending, mafia-mob-gang, mm-romance, no-cheating, romance

This was definitely a step up from the first book, in my opinion.

TW for the extreme violence and gore. This leans fully into these mafia men being bloodthirsty and remorseless killers prone to violence, so heed the TW's at the beginning of the book!

I liked the chemistry between Giancarlo and Ash even more than our first couple, and this kept me engaged throughout. It was an easy, fast read for me and I was absorbed in it from beginning to end.

The only real criticisms I've seen of this book is perhaps Giancarlo's behavior at times, but I honestly felt it was just fine? And pretty tame, for a mafioso, to be honest?

Not when it came to his love of killing and gore and all that. In that respect, it was a lot. But I don't expect anything less from a mafia book. And these are bad men, very dangerous and scary men who we would all run screaming (hopefully) from in real life.

So him being an asshole to Ash at times didn't bother me. It sucked, because Ash was a sweetie pie and didn't deserve it, but I didn't expect Giancarlo to be sunshine and rainbows who treated Ash 100% as he should. At least at first.

And their big problem near the end, he made up for and apologized for (and even got on his knees and spent a month and possibly more making it up to Ash for his shitty behavior). And also, from his perspective, and who he is as a person, and as a mafioso, made sense. It wasn't okay, but I understood where he was coming from. Ash still didn't deserve it, but Giancarlo was appropriately sorry and chastised for his behavior toward him.

Honestly, all thing considered, like these authors said, Giancarlo and Ash were pretty healthy as far as a mafia pair goes. As healthy as a relationship can be when one of them is a violent murderer who can pop off at the slightest provocation, anyway.

I just had a good time reading this, and dare I say this is my favorite from this pair yet? Perhaps so. It just fired on all cylinders for me.

The possessiveness eventually came too and I absolutely loved it. No one touches or harms Gin's Ash, no one.

I also enjoyed Gin called Ash 'puppy', it was pretty cute. Ash kinda did act like a puppy at times haha. But was very dominant in the bedroom, and I liked that contrast. Giancarlo isn't to be fucked with, but he can submit in the bedroom happily, especially for Ash. Also I'm not usually one for the smaller, sweeter guy being such a dominant top all the time, but for these two it works. It help that they were that way from the very beginning, so it was all I was used to. (view spoiler).

I definitely recommend this, it was just so good. I can't wait to dive into the next one. Benito is his own type of dangerous and interesting as well, and I'm excited to see the guy who brings him to his knees.

Can't wait, diving into it next! 😘
