What wonderful book! The way Eduard Said talks about his life in retrospect is full of deep analysis and conjectures about his relationship with his parents and all people that made an impression in his life, specifically in his formative years. The impact of growing up in a country he was not from, always aware of being different, foreign but still eager to return to his beloved Cairo.
His open manner to express his feelings, and how they influenced the formation and development of the person he became, all of these, so well put into words, a gem of a book.
