A very useful book to read if you'd like to find out about Gandhi's views - however it certainly won't tell you everything. It seems that the heart of his views is somewhat different than some of the core messages of the book, as it was written long before the main core of the struggle for Indian independence. In some ways it also doesn't seem to do Gandhi justice as he has more chapters focusing on the evils of technology than on what he is known for - nonviolent resistance. However, this does greatly help to understand the nuances of the idea of swaraj (self-rule/self-reliance) and the ways in which Gandhi sees that it should function.
