Enjoyable and possibly underrated.

In a universe where all intelligent life has to be “uplifted�� by a patron race, humanity is one of few that is a big unknown. Did our patron species abandon us? Or were we an exception in a wide universe? This story follows Jacob, one of several humans assigned on a new mission to explore the Sun, where we suspect undiscovered alien life might exsist! Could they be the patron race that uplifted humanity?

Beyond the awe of this creative discovery, Brin mixes this with the question and doubt he plants in reader’s mind: Were humans uplifted?
