it was amazing
bookshelves: uncle-cormac, dystopian-apocalypse, launch-vehicle

McCarthy's work in general is about the sickness of humankind, and I agree we're pretty fucking awful bombing babies and keeping smallpox alive and salvaging technology and scientific nightmares from unfortunate extraterrestrial crash sites! But I digress.

In The Road, the reader comes to care more about the characters due to the bleak landscape of a dead earth and the more deadly surviving cannibals. Resistance is futile, humans. The Grim Reaper keeps its arms open to all. It's hell when we can't even protect our loved ones. Luck and a .357 help!

But we all fall asleep over Minneapolis, even with the best of intentions and the next thing we know if the radio fails us, is four F-16's on our ass and nothing has really been resolved on GoodReads' reiews.
