Let's see how many hot topics Rene Denfeldcan work into one novel: (1) abusive foster care; (2) institutional care; (3) fetal alcohol syndrome; (4) neurodivergence; (5) "debunked" treatments for behavioral issues; (6) zoos; (7) animal behavior. This was like reading a tabloid newspaper in line at the grocery store.
