"Do you make it a habit to compliment everyone who's trying to kill you?
"Not everyone. Just you."
2 stars, I really want to make it 3 stars but I'm in conflict if I should or not.
This book was super boring in the first 25%, the conversations were SO long and it was just being dragged out. I really enjoyed it during the middle and throughout but then the scene in the end made me curl up into a ball in trauma.
"[...]Help me. I'm attracted to my wife."
I just have to say this. I loved Alaric so much, he was so cute and lovable... Until the scene because THE THINGS HE WAS SAYING. I physically CRINGED and wanted to start crying.
Talasyn was a fun character to read and I think her dynamics are great. She was realistic and funny, I loved getting to know her.
Alaric and Talasyn's relationship was cute. But I feel like the progression from it going from enemies to lovers was very fast. One page, it was "I'm going to kill him.", and the next was, "Her freckled nose was scrunched up, she looks fetching." I still loved them, though they could have fell in love slower.
The writing was intriguing and flowery, so I enjoyed the writing style. The world was made strong and thrilling, but I think TG tried too much to build on it. I was getting so bored in the beginning, I debated on DNFing.
