really liked it

Solid. A good introduction to the world, the character and the magic. It finished up the main plot nicely and left some very interesting threads dangling that are undoubtedly pursued in later books. Several people told me that this was one of the 'weaker' Dresden books. I'll take that to mean that they just get better and better, as I found nothing weak here to complain about.

Mark Just finished this. Looking forward to what you thought of it.

Linette The first few books are good, but the series takes off about book 4. So good.

Rachael Agreed, Linette. The first few books were okay. The later books are phenomenal. Butcher improves as he goes.

Gavin I disagree. I think book 1, 3 and 8 are the best three.

Ryan Mclelland 1 and 3?!? Really? You are the only person I have ever heard that thought the first book was anything other than okay. I enjoy all the books in the series, but I view the first and second books like I would a rough pilot being used to pitch a tv show to a network. The writing gets so much better as Butcher matures as a writer.

William Wall I just finished this book as well. Fantastic read.

Tari It's a good series & I hope you like it! ;-p

Gavin i like firsts.

Aliased Book eight was my favorite until Cold Days came along, I would not have numbered it amongst the most well written of the series; it's very Molly-centric though.

Logan I might check this out, there really never were enough of the show made.

Logan Just bought it! If you're willing to give it a chance, so am I. I go through so many books at work now. Need a new one every day or two.

Ashley I found them all enjoyable but #7 (Dead Beat) was the first one I really loved. (Sue!) I also really liked Changes (#12).

Amanda If you don't enjoy it, I would recommend you push through books 1-3. It really starts to get fabulous by book 4. Alternatively, listen to the audiobooks narrated by James Marsters - he is absolutely fantastic!

Michala Newman i keep meaning to try them

Wade Do, it's one of two series I recommend without reservation. The other one is Discworld by Terry Pratchett.

Josh The series really is good and a lot of fun. As others have said book 1 is "weaker", in that each of the books gets continually better. You may also like The Codex Alera by Jim Butcher - it is a completed six book series that he wrote. Butcher is a writing machine!
