An unfortunate letdown. Also, having a book set in the 90s requires more than random sentences about Nirvana and Princess Diana. It wasn’t hard to guess how the story would go and, because my brain had nothing better to do, the description of the characters wearing a camisole beneath overalls really wriggled its way into my very being because tank tops under overalls would be way more 90s. As a former camisole layering millennial, those things didn’t really pop off til the early 2000s. Anyways. Random thing to harp on but the storyline wasn’t doing much for me, which was a shame because I was so impressed by The Sundown Motel.
