Has this ever happen to you? You've created too many Sims to keep track of them all and the next thing you know people are wetting themselves, starving to death, and walking into fires?
That's kind of what this final installment of the Lunar Chronicles felt like, there were just too many characters and too many loose ends to wrap up.
The reader is constantly switching back and forth between characters as Meyer rushes to get everything covered. Sweet funny moments between characters are almost nonexistent after the first few chapters. Everything felt both rushed and sluggish.
At first I really loved Winter as a character and was enjoying the palace/capitol setting. However, once Winter was on the run she became a lot less interesting. I think we lost her voice among the other 7 or 8 main characters. She pretty much became a pathetic crazy object to be protected and lugged around.
Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy the book and there were some really great scenes, but overall it just didn't have the same magic as the previous books.
I think that Meyer tried to squeeze too much into one book, I think she would have been better off splitting it into two one for the wedding and the other for the coronation.
Overall, this was a bit of a disappointment.
