I read this book sometime late last century, but the urge to reread came upon me, possibly because this book has been popping up on various "banned book" lists in the good old US of A.

It is a stunning, horrific piece of work. The treatment of Black people as slaves (or ex-slaves) in this story is beyond comprehension ... just abuse on abuse on abuse. No wonder America in particular, continues to pay the price .

This book is so important, and should continue to be read and studied by all people.
