rebecca serle has a cheating fetish and i am SICK OF ITTTTT
*granted, if i had realized (before it was too late) that this book was written by the same lady who wrote the absolute atrocity that was In Five Years... i never would have picked it up. maybe that's on me! lol!
anyways i will never in a million years enjoy a book that plays up and praises an MC that takes fun in being drunk all the time, being an adulterer, and also just being an all-around idiot- which is actually a shame, because the young-carol aspect of this book is (surprisingly) quite interesting! but rebecca had to ruin it, of course, with her... ways.
also, the writing was just plain bad. all of the prose is written like it thinks it's saying something profound, but in fact, it's made up of a repeating pattern of basic descriptions and statements. definitely not my primary issue with this book, but it certainly isn't helping it's case!
so yeah. rebecca serle write a book that doesn't feature an MC being an out-of-touch dunce that sleeps with people she absolutely shouldn't challenge= failed. royally.
read: january 2024
format: audiobook (shout-out lauren graham! i still love you!)
rating: 1/5 stars
