it was amazing

Oh man!! Gabino with the gut punch again!! This man writes the most beautifully devastating stories of people who are already down so low and have no idea the hell that is about descend upon them. The characters are so multilayered and incredibly human. The story takes in Puerto Rico and centers on 5 best friends Bimbo, Gabe, Paul, Tavo and Xavier who all decide to avenge Bimbo’s mother’s death, and then some crazy shit happens, all during a hurricane! I just adored these characters and especially loved Gabe who just wanted to do right by his friend but also to have a good life with his girlfriend Natalia. Puerto Rico was a character in itself, and we got to see how impoverished and forgotten it is especially when a devastating hurricane hits. Gabino put us right there and made me feel what those characters were going through. So intense, violent and extraordinarily emotional, he still grants us a ray of hope at the end. I was in tears and I’m blown away by this man yet again!!
