** spoiler alert **
Before reading this book I didn't have a team. She would have been fine with either of them, but frankly, the best thing about this book was Aspen. He did love America, but only as a friend and he was smart enough to recognize that and still remain friends with her. I also was a fan of Queen Amberly. She was the perfect mother figure to the girls.
More positives...All of the remaining girls did become friends(even Celeste). America is still herself and does everything her own way.
Now for the negatives...America and Maxon both wanted the other to be the first to declare their love. Neither was willing to completely commit to the other until that happened, so it's a stalemate. When they are finally engaged, Maxon finds out about her previous relationship with Aspen and decides to marry Kris instead. Um, seriously? If you're going to marry someone shouldn't you have a little more trust or at least the patience to listen to them? Within 24 hours he's been shot and he realizes that he wants to marry her anyway. While Maxon is being treated America is locked in a safe room desperate to know if Maxon survived or not. Excuse me? Didn't he just decide he wasn't going to marry you because you had once been close to the guard? I was fine with her making her decision at the beginning of the book, but the way the emotions switch on and off did not sit well with me. This just wasn't the fantastic ending I was waiting for.
