After so much time, I finally decided it was time to review this book!
This book had me sitting on the edge of my bed, bus seat, dining chair - you name it! I couldn't put it down for a freaking second!
This is how good it was!!!

The plot was so good, the world-building so perfect, and the characters- my so very beloved characters - were well written!

I'm trying to provide reviews without spoilers, so I'm not going to talk about the story's events.
BUT, that does not mean I'm not telling you about my new-to-join-the-long-list FBF. Yep, that's right, we are talking about Bjorn I-don't-know-his-last-name-yet.

Black hair? check.
Blue eyes? check.
Forbidden love? check.
Hiding secrets? check.
Charming? fucking check.

My sweet Bjorn is so caring, he showed his love and affection for Freya from the very beginning. He cared for her and made sure to make her feel safe, he told her the truth even when he lied.

The book was extremely fast-paced, full of adventures, and thrilling. I was literally holding back from reading the end of the book just to make sure that everything was going to end well. (according to my definition of "good," at least), the side characters were no less perfect - except Freya's husband, mother, brother, ex-best-friend, and the jarl - and even though I was not too fond of these characters for obvious reasons, they were still well written and their actions did not fall over out of nowhere, they had their ambitions and POV-s and I were able to understand them.

Now, my second-best character is Freya, the girl is a fucking badass, she is strong and clever (just the way I like), and she knows what she wants, but most importantly - knows how to achieve it. She fights for power and freedom, she wants to get rid of her nasty husband who is a total bastard who cares about no one but himself.
I just feel sorry for Freya because she is so lonely, she gave up her life for her family, she sacrificed everything and got nothing back, and, TBH, that was a mistake because HELL, why would you give up your own happiness for people who don't give a damn about yours??

The thing I liked the most about this book was Freya-and-Bjorn-'s relationship, THEY ARE SO VERY SWEEEEET!!. the fact that Bjorn loves Freya the way she is? the fact that he embraces her scars and tells her to carry them proudly?
It was my EVERYTHING.

So far the book was a 5-star read for me. It was just my type, it had most of the tropes I was looking for and it wasn't cheesy or long just to fill the papers. It kept me hooked till the end and had me screaming and pulling my hair when I realized that the second book was not published and wouldn't be any time soon!

If you love kingdom war's a kind of fantasy, with hidden secrets and steamy romance... this book is for you. I highly recommend it!

Happy reading everybody!! (〃` 3′〃)
