So first we're gonna tackle the problematic stuff, because there is a bit of that. This book does have some sex scenes that I feel are a little bit much for the ages that are being portrayed for the main characters. But the sex scenes are very well written. I would just prefer ones that spicy to maybe be with characters a little bit older so if that's the kind of thing, that's gonna make you feel uncomfortable, then Maybe avoid this book.
Also it is a dark romance. There are definitely some problematic scenes when they are first getting together because they don't even really like each other. And there is a little bit of darkness. And some toxicity in their relationship, especially in the beginning, but there is character growth, it does get better, and he's not a stalker that r@pes her with a gun like in some dark romances- so there is that.
Now, for the positive points and I'm gonna do my best not to spoil anything for anyone.
This book is about teenagers in high school and it is a realistic high school experience for many of us. Especially if you have ever been friends with the bullied or been bullied yourself. You may have some déjà Vu or some flashback moments that may or may not trigger you a little bit, however, I think you should read it to the end even if it is a little bit triggering because the underlying point and moral of this story is so very, very important. Also, some people in this story who are some of the worst bullies do have to face judgment for the things that they did so for those of us who never got to see that with our own bullies, it is kind of vindicating.
There is a lot of growth with these characters, a lot of depth with these characters, and I feel like this is definitely a worthy read that is worth it for just about anybody. As long as you are capable of paying attention to the underlying point and morals that this book is trying to get across instead of reveling in your judgement at the not so nice parts.
