I read this book with high hopes. I have always been interested in fantasy and sci-fi as well. This was one of the worst books I have ever read. I thought that the hype around it was well-founded. Sadly it is not. Perhaps it is the era it was written in but man it is slow-moving and not very exciting. The dialogue is limited and stifled. I struggled to continue with it and stopped reading it a couple of times. I was encouraged to continue as it is considered a classic. It is a hopeless vision of an apocalyptic future(past?) This story has no redeeming qualities, and the ending left me feeling empty. I wish I could have the time I invested in reading it back.
