I don't even have words to descibe how much I loved this book. Ironic since this whole book is based on words. It deserves everyone of those stars, and everyone of the great reviews it has gotten. Even though the ending is spoiled before the actual ending it still brought tears to my eyes. I've never read a book as depressing as this one. What everyone said about being able to truely feel for the characters is true. Liesel, her accordian playing father, her mother "the women with the iron fist", Rudy (aka Jesse Owens) her best friend, Max the Jew, and many more characters you learn to love or in the case of the Fuhrer, hate. This story is about a young girl growing up in Germany in one of the most violent times. Death is the narrator who follows this girl around meeting her for the first time when her brother passes away on a train. I definatly recommend this to other young readers and adults. It will make you laugh and it will make your cry. It is definatly worth reading.
