it was amazing
bookshelves: fiction-historical, latin

This book begins in the mid 1800's and takes place between Chile, Britain, and America. You will follow the story of a diverse family who has many secrets stored away. The main character is, Eliza, a very determined young lady who is very advanced for her time. This book is full of history. The author is so descriptive in her words that you feel as if you are literally in the book; enthralled in the lives of the characters. I literally had a hard time putting this book down. I wept and I laughed. I fell in love with these characters. This book has a little of everything: mystery, romance, saga, secrets, and tons of history! I learned that basic human nature has not changed throughout the centuries. Isabel Allende is a new author for me and I was pleasantly surprised by her talent. Allende continues the journey of this family in her follow up book, Portrait of Sepia, which is just as breath taking and emotional as Daughter of Fortune. If I could sum up this book in one word I would call it “P´¡³§³§±õ°¿±·´¡°Õ·¡â€.
