This one was weird. I didn't quite understand it at first and had to read it again. Along with the Jewish and Christian references, it also has Roman references, those of which were the ones I wasn't as familiar with. After doing some research, it looks like he took another story by a different person and rearranged the words to be a sort of satire and statement on religion as a whole. Or at least a dis to Jews among the Christians. Obviously this sort of story would be highly offensive in today's world, especially taken out of context, but for that time period, I can understand it a little. Not that I condone it. Overall, I didn't think it was that amusing or even well written. Guess it's one of those stories where you "had to be there", to really get it. Not my favorite Poe by far.
