First of all, forget "Twilight." You might hate "Twilight" and love this one, and vice versa. I was greatly intrigued by the premise -- humans have been taken over by aliens (like "Body Snatchers" or "SG-1"'s Goa'uld or "Invaders From Mars"). The story is from the point of view of an alien (Wanderer) who's just been put into the body of Melanie.
Melanie refuses to go away, which worries Wanderer. Then Wanderer begins to share Melanie's feelings for her boyfriend and her brother, and they both dislike a Seeker who keeps harassing Wanderer.
I was hoping for a stronger sci-fi book, but it's really about love and friendship and what it means to be human. The second quarter of the book kind of dragged -- every tiny, little detail was described.
I also had a hard time with the romantic relationships. They were melodramatic and superficial. I've been married for some time, and I believe that a true relationship goes much deeper than staring into each other's eyes and kissing. But that's all Melanie needs from her true love.
I found the parts where Wanderer acts as an alien (instead of a straight human) the most interesting. Most of the time, I wasn't sure where the book was heading. The ending is pretty hopeful.
