So full disclaimer, I hadn't realized that this novella was part of a series, and I had not read the other books. It is advertised as a standalone though but I felt like I was missing information as it read as if the reader was supposed to have some knowledge of the story.
It is unfortunate, I think it would have been a better experience if I had read the previous book.

I am intrigued though about the world and magic system, I think I might give the series a try, and then maybe the puzzle pieces will click together in my mind at some point 😅
