it was ok
bookshelves: science-fiction

This is a highly regarded book by a highly regarded author, but unfortunately it did nothing for me. The concept initially intrigued me- I was expecting something more in line with Flowers for Algernon but I was wrong. I didn’t like the main character or any of the characters, now I think about it. So many people rated this highly that I doubt my own judgement-maybe I’m just failing to see its quality.

Gavin I loved Flowers for Algernon but don’t generally tend to fare well with a lot of sci-fi classics or Hugo nominees/winners. I’ve seen a lot of positive reviews on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ for this one lately and was thinking about giving it a go but your review might just be the dose of cold water I need to help me avoid another failure in the sci-fi classic genre. I really do prefer the character driven stories like Algernon, Lathe of Heaven, and even The Forever War rather than the old school hard sci-fi-fi tales with characters who are either secondary to the plot or just plain impossible to root for because they ar3 awful people!
