In Ember, a city surrounded by darkness and emptiness, Lina is a messenger, and Doon works in the Pipeworks. They both are very concerned about the lights going dim, and all the shortages. How can they save their city? Lina finds a mysterious message that seems to be directions out of Ember, but she can't figure it out alone.
I love how this book mixes SF, mystery, and adventure, with two kids working together to decipher the message.
