it was ok
bookshelves: 2024

I was totally mislead by the marketing around this book which played a large part in my disappointment upon finishing the novel.

"In this wildly funny and heartwarming office comedy, an admin worker accidentally gains access to her colleagues' private emails and DMs and decides to use this intel to save her job-a laugh-till-you-cry debut"

..... Ummmm what?!?! This was not even close to what I found within the pages of I Hope This Finds you well. Jolene is a highly anxious introvert who is struggling with the death of her best friend and the guilt she feels around this tragic event. She consistently makes poor decisions, is overly critical of her workmates, and struggles to share her authentic self with her family. I guess some people might find her struggles "wildly funny" but I did not. I was a long slog and I struggled to finish.

⭐️⭐️ 💫 2.5 stars for this depressing and unrealistic office drama

Sara Seriously, wildly funny? Laugh till you cry? Not even a little bit.

Michelle Johnson While I actually loved the book, I do agree about the “wildly funny, etc. being far from what this book was. It was depressing and emotional. I was very confused reading some of these other reviews as well, wondering what I was missing.

John Bonner Yeah, I struggled to find the "wildly funy" bits in a book about a mentally traumatized and isolated alcoholic that is constantly self destructing. Maybe the funny parts involved the neglected neighbor girl, the physically and mentally abused coworker, or the woman with the alienated drug addict son.

Danielle Barr the first few chapters while we knew absolutely nothing about any of the characters had some fun quips in them but once you get into the “meat and potatoes there’s an aggressive lack of funny moments

Reading (Gab's Version) Not one part of this book was funny. I found this really hard to get through the FMC was just her own worst enemy
