I was hoping the irreverent vibe and romance in this would elevate it above usual chick lit but I didn’t think it was funny and the romance is a small part. Meanwhile, I had to endure all the same irrational decisions made by the protagonist that you would find in a melodramatic romance. I like unethical anti-heroes but this wasn’t written that way, she’s just an average person struggling and being dumb. I didn’t really get anything out of that. I was curious enough to want to see how it all played out though.
