I’m not sure about this one. It is a page turner for sure, but more akin to eating a whole bag of crisps or a whole tub of icecream in a moment of haze. Once it sets in it doesn’t actually feel good.

Way too many characters, some more likable that others but at the end, we are left hanging. There was a darkness about it which kept me on my toes and reminded me of Siri Hustvedt. But the characters and storyline also felt so cliche - artists, drinking, drugs, orgies, drama, depressed young girls and big baby adult men. I may be too old for this and have outgrown that part of youth where one may find the type of life described in this book as mysterious and sexy. But I did stick around and finished the book in a day and a half so for what it is worth it was certainly not as bad as some of the 1* reviews imply.

Even more, I would be interested to read the author’s newest release. I think there is potential for story development as she matures as a writer. Or maybe not and it’s best to leave for the Book TikTok fans.
