really liked it

Loved this one 🥹 “This is a book about love and change and loss, all packed into an annual family week on Cape Code. And it’s a total delight.
I don’t know if this one will be for everyone, the writing is different than anything I’ve read before, but I adored it

Brooke 𝜗𝜚 I’m reading this now & I’m really enjoying it!

Cassie Holder I know Elin and Nancy Thayer and so many other authors adore this one! But I spoke with some of the staff at Mitchell’s Book Corner in Nantucket today and they weren’t for it at all. I was surprised! But it’s still on my TBR, so thanks for the heads up! 🩷

Heather Clarke I loved it but it’s definitely not a typical light beach read. I also think some of us *older* readers may relate to Rocky more than others.

Sarah Freeman Loved it! The narrator in the audio book version was perfect!

Gloria I had this in my hand at the bookstore today, then put it back. Thanks for the review, now I will go back and purchase it.

Mary-Lynn I wasn't too sure about first-person, present tense, at first but it worked really well.

Jessa Messina I am adding this to my TBR! This sounds like a great summer read

Connie I loved this one so much!!!

Mariana Hamilton You are right, it may not be for everyone, but it definitely spoke to me. Sometimes I felt the author was totally in my head.

Kelly Totally get what you mean about the writing style! But it's growing on me.

Shelley Ahmed I’m 70% through this on audio and it’s delightful!! As a pre-menopausal woman I am just loving Rocky!

Erin Cain This is a book i may have otherwise looked past. The audible version was so well done and I loved it quite a bit.

Mary Rigby Slow. Read. Not. Finishing

Valorie Loved this book, the family the writing, every single word.,

message 15: by Diane (new) - added it

Diane Not finishing. Enough about menopause for heaven's sake.

Melissa Haynie I think this one of my least favorite books I’ve ever read. The characters are so annoying. I kept waiting for something to happen and wanted to quit so many times. So glad it’s over.

message 17: by Susan (new) - rated it 1 star

Susan This book is the exact opposite of delightful. The most depressing and deceptive book I’ve ever read. Should come with a trigger warning about death, abortion, miscarriage, toilet humor(literally) and menopause.

Shelby Dong Really enjoyed the writing too!

Pam One of the best books I have read this year!

Linda Hagan I did enjoy this book though many others seem to disagree. The time frame of a one week multigenerational vacation made it a quick read and relatable as the sandwich generation between adult children and elderly parents. I also appreciated the menopausal thoughts and actions of the character, Rocky. Though most women may not have as extreme symptoms as her, most can relate to the thoughts and feelings. As her past secrets with pregnancies that ended came to light in the story, I may not have as been as bothered by it as readers who have had relatable experiences, I simply saw it as her story and part of the plot relating to current relationships with her husband, children, and ultimately herself.

Judy Lahaie There was too much happening within such a short span of time and in such a brief book. It left me feeling sad, anxious, and maybe overwhelmed.

Despite tackling such serious topics, there was no depth to the characters.

Linda Calafaty I agree, loved this book !! So different and refreshing!! I’m in the same stage of life as the main character so maybe that’s why I related to it so well. I loved it!

Eileen Yeah I really enjoyed it. I felt so seen in this book, but maybe it's because I'm *almost* there. There was so much in this I felt and in her description of loss and grief in her experience of motherhood- particularly as the kids grow up, that I'm currently experiencing at 43 with a 15 and 12 yo. Her menopause may be more typical than people are giving credence to, so many people just don't talk about it still. Perimenopause is giving me a run for the money already so I can see this as a total possibility. Her relationship with her kids is believable, and I hope to have closeness like that as mine grow too. Loved this book
