The Bells

This was phenomenal. The four parts of the poem showed the different ways in which you can interpret the ringing of the bells. My favorites were, of course, the 3rd and 4th section. The emergency bells, and the somber bells spoke to me. I also had to look up a new word, which I love: paean.
A part I found funny was as I started reading the poem I kept thinking it reminded me of something. It tickled the edge of my consciousness but I couldn't quite grasp it. After reading the poem the second time it came to me. As Poe used the repetition of the word "bells" over and over again, it reminded me of when Dr. Suess uses the word "noise" over and over again in The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. I love poetry, especially with cadence, it's fun to say out loud, and then I imagined the Grinch reciting the Bells, and all seriousness got away from me. In any case, this was a highly enjoyable poem.
