This was a captivating memoir, and fully engaged me throughout the whole time. I really enjoyed learning about how the author navigated her life from childhood to adolescence to adulthood. It was truly interesting. I was shocked at how she was treated by her own mother, and I do think that there was a lack of empathy given towards her. Yes, she should have treated her daughter differently, but she too was struggling, and I don’t think that the author explored this at all. I do think that there was a lot of misunderstanding surrounding the author’s mental disorder but again I think that the author fell a little short in fully exploring how the reader should feel about this injustice. She didn’t really make me feel connected to her, or care about her to where I would want to help or learn more about her condition. It was almost too clinical. Now that being said, I did enjoy it, it was an enjoyable read. I find the condition of sociopathy quite interesting and love learning how it affects different people. I just needed a little more from this book in order for it to be an outstanding read.

Thank you to Simon & Schuster @simonandschuster and Simon Audio @simon.audio for this audiobook copy. All thoughts are my own.
