I picked up this collection of Hermann Hesse poems to help with my immersion in German and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The book had the original German text and the English translation side-by-side, which made it easy to cross check what I was reading, and I enjoyed my ability to pick up new words as I went through this collection. The theme of homesickness throughout the book allowed for some similar ideas to pop up from poem to poem, and I enjoyed the way that Hesse wrote and thought. Denken an den Freund bei Nacht, Auch die Blumen, Berge in der Nacht, and Ravenna (1) were some of my favorites.
