Translations of the Tao Te Ching range from the wonderful to the awful. The difficulty is achieving a poetic expression while maintaining philosophical rigour. Often the latter is sacrificed for the sake of the former, with the consequence that some editions are wildly misleading and garble the message. Shambala can be trusted, however, and this is a good one. .
