this book was just. beautiful. remarkable. the way as a reader you get to experience different journeys of life and the complexities of them is wonderful because you get to see the beauty of it all too. the preparations and coming to terms with old age, the self doubt and uncertainty of not having figured your life out at 30, the grief of losing so many loved ones and the loneliness that follows and the dying wish of an octopus to bring closure and love to the old woman he’s come to care for as a friend despite living a life of captivity and yearning. life ends and it begins again and the love you harbor along the way is everything. a remarkably bright creature helped to bring a family together. i’ve never been more satisfied with a books ending, even though i sobbed the entire last like 50 pages. animals truly are such loving creatures, even eight legged ones. PLEASE read this book. it will warm your soul.
