Det vokser et tre i Brooklyn

Stylish and immersive historical read about the times when American dream was thriving, and people believed that education and hard work is a key to a good life.
Though, I reduced my rating at the end because I grew tired of reading about women who hate other women when most of their misfortunes come from obediently serving pathetic needy men.
So yeah, the content is a bit misogynic and violent but probably reflects the time-period described. And as for it, the author did a great job depicting Brooklyn at the beginning of the last century. The book is full of all sorts detailed descriptions of old jobs, fashion, children's games, social gatherings and even elections. The place she shows to readers is intricate, vivid and pulsating with life. We can see how different cultures blend to create new Americans and New Yorkers.
It's also very good family saga that captures lives of three generations struggling to give their children better future and a story of growing-up in a tumultuous fast-changing world.
