Well. That was certainly unexpected. To a large extent this was a pleasant read, written in fairly simple language. The chapters being written out of order was a stylistic choice, but once I started going back chapters to check the dates, this was tolerable. The ending, including the outcome of the wager, the challenge was the weakest part. The idea of Widget and Poppet were good ones, but their characters ended up fairly thin. Bailey I never really bou ght at all, but then again one idea of the book is that magic is for everyone if they truly look. Obviously the circus itself is what we are supposed to be looking at. And it certainly was an interesting diversion. I think if the book had more sections like the earlier ones with Isobel and Marco, I would have liked it just a bit better. 3.5 of 5.
