description

Okay.

Okay.

Deeeep breaths.

I BELIEVE I'VE JUST BEEN WON OVER.
COMPLETELY, MOST CERTAINLY AND IN ALL ABSOLUTIVITY WON OVER. (I don't care, it's a real word for me ok *sticks tongue out*)

“I know you aren't perfect. But it's a person's imperfections that make them perfect for someone else.

I could say the same to you, Cricket Bell.

Man oh man did I fall for our freakishly tall and adorably awkward Cricket. Initially, I was worried just his name would turn me off for the rest of the book but Perkin's lovely prose works so smoothly for me, I was proven wholly wrong.

I truly marvel at how realistic and hell, even relatable (shit, that's not a word???) both of Stephanie's books are. The romance is spot on -not exasperatingly melodramatic nor forced- and the characters are fairly easy to fall in love with. Even Lola's rather eccentric fashion sense wore on me!

And when I say relatable, I'm not talking about her dress code (obviously), but the way she reacts to certain situations. BUT, there's a catch there, because I'm merely 15 and she's two years ahead of me, so her behavior seemed rather immature at times. What I loved was that she wasn't some perfect, selfless character either, because no matter how respectable those kinds of people are, fact is not everyone is that way and that accounts for Lola too. Her self-centered-ness is something I've noticed in several girls (admittedly, my age and not bloody seventeen) and myself included, but it's only natural. So I guess what I'm saying is I was okay with that. Mostly.

The only thing that did displease me though, is why Max was abruptly transformed into this ultra-douchebag in order for the whole (view spoiler) agenda to fall through. (view spoiler)

But all that was lost and forgotten courtesy of lovely Cricket and the warm fuzzies he induced.

And then of course, there's the appearance of Anna & Étienne. I won't be ashamed to say that I nearly squealed with delight when they popped into the book and basically had my feels skyrocketing off to eternal bliss.

NOW, I've got yet another perfect couple to add to that list. Ahoy, welcome aboard the ship!

Not to mention the fact that we get a taste of what Étienne felt in Anna & the French Kiss. :D

A fresh change from the other recent contemporary romance novels I've devoured and I can undoubtedly say that no other compares to what Stephanie Perkins has mastered in! :)
