it was amazing

Daughter of the Forest is Juliet Marillier's first published novel, and a beautiful one at that. It is a must read for anyone who loves historical fiction, fantasy , stories that are intertwined with magic and folklore, and of course love.

I'm not going to be writing a summary here ( you can always scroll up and read the summary lol) but I will write about how I felt about the substance I read and what I really love about the author.

Some people had complaints on the length of the book, but honestly I had no problem reading through it. I actually loved the length and pretty much everything about it. For me it was a very satisfying read and so hence the 5 stars. And I would like to add that I am like many readers who end up becoming tired with dragged out stories, but in all honesty I didn't feel this way about this book whatsoever.
In fact, I feel like Marillier's way of writing delivers so much detail that it strengths her stories. It's because she is able to provide so much depth into her stories that you almost forget that these characters are not real.

Daughter of the Forest is a beautiful work of art in my humble opinion. I've always been a sucker for stories that encompass loads of folklore-fantasy, exotic settings, and legend worthy characters. The way Daughter of the Forest reads (or any Marillier book for that matter ) is like a story that your grandmother would tell you by a fire place on a cold night , or even when its a rainy day and your stuck inside and you read a story about a hero whose courage and strength of love overcomes all obstacles.

If you have read any of Marillier's books then you know that she is an amazing writer. And this will also, yet again, be another book on your shelf that sits next to her other great works. But if you haven't read any of Juliet Marillier's books then you are most definitely missing out on something amazing .

Happy readings!

Juliet Marillier
“He would have told her - he would have said, it matters not if you are here or there, for I see you before me every moment. I see you in the light of the water, in the swaying of the young trees in the spring wind. I see you in the shadows of the great oaks, I hear your voice in the cry of the owl at night. You are the blood in my veins, and the beating of my heart. You are my first waking thought, and my last sigh before sleeping. You are - you are bone of my bone, and breath of my breath.”
