A weird transgressive novel. This novel has a weird thematic message that I took out of this book. This book critiques family and state and the church but in the same breathe the author uses a complex and perverse topic such as incest to highlight their is a church perversion. However, how can an author of this much controversy critique the church and their abuses and wrongs when the author is know for pushing the sexual boundaries in their novels to the point that their books are controversial even in the 21st century.
